    Diploma Plan Options

    The following Diploma Plan Options are offered for the classes of 2010 - 2013
    (1 credit = 1 year):

    RECOMMENDED

    • ENGLISH: 4 credits
    • SOCIAL STUDIES: 4 credits: Geography, World History, U.S. History, and Government/Economics
    • SCIENCE: 3 credits: Biology, Chemistry, and one additional science course
    • MATHEMATICS: 3 credits: Algebra I (or Algebra I.1 / I.2), Geometry, and Algebra II
    • FOREIGN LANGUAGES: 2 credits in the same foreign language
    • COMPUTER: 1 credit of basic computer applications; (rising DCA students should complete this course in the eighth grade year)
    • FINE ARTS: 1 credit
    • ELECTIVES: 2 credits
    • BIBLE: 2 credits: Biblical Foundations and Christian World View
    • Total credits required for graduation: 22

    DISTINGUISHED

    • ENGLISH: 4 credits
    • SOCIAL STUDIES: 4 credits: Geography, World History, U.S. History, and Government/Economics
    • SCIENCE: 3 credits: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
    • MATHEMATICS : 4 credits: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and either Mathematical models or Pre-Calculus (Note: It is highly recommended that parents review the particular math requirements for each college to which their student seeks admission. In cases where college-level calculus will be required for a bachelor’s degree, students should take pre-calculus as their fourth math credit at DCA.)
    • FOREIGN LANGUAGES : 2 credits in the same foreign language
    • COMPUTER: 1 credit of basic computer applications; (rising DCA students should complete this course in the eighth grade year)
    • FINE ARTS: 1 credit
    • ELECTIVES: 3 credits; (Two of the three credits must come from any of the following upper division courses: Anatomy/Physiology, Calculus (Note: Pre-calculus is a prerequisite for calculus.), Spanish (Note: It is highly recommended that parents review the particular foreign language requirement for each college to which the student seeks admission. In some cases, three years of the same foreign language may be required.), an approved ISP or Thesis Project.)
    • BIBLE: 2 credits: Biblical Foundations and Christian World View
    • Total credits required for graduation: 24

    (1 credit = 1 year):

    RECOMMENDED

    • ENGLISH: 4 credits
